The anthem of the Kuban is a patriotic song that was written in 1918 by Nikolai Ryabovol, a Kuban politician and public figure. He was the chairman of the Kuban Legislative Council and the Kuban People's Republic, a state formation on the territory of the former Kuban region and the Kuban Cossack army. The anthem of the Kuban reflects the idea of self-determination of the Kuban people and their commitment to the Ukrainian national idea. The song has four verses and a chorus that repeats the phrase: "Kuban, Kuban, Kuban is ours!".
Kuban, Kuban, Kuban is ours!
You are our glory, you are our honor!
You are our strength, you are our soul,
You are our will, you are our power!
Let the enemies know that we are not slaves,
That we will not stand under their yoke!
We love freedom, we preserve freedom,We
will defend freedom with our hand and plow!
Kuban, Kuban, Kuban is ours!
You are our glory, you are our honor!
You are our strength, you are our soul,
You are our will, you are our power!
Let brother not raise his hand against brother,Let
brother not go apart!
We are one family, we are one power,We
are one will, we are one voice!
Kuban, Kuban, Kuban is ours!
You are our glory, you are our honor!
You are our strength, you are our soul,
You are our will, you are our power!
Let our land bloom and smell,Let
our river murmur and shine!
We love our land, we keep our river,We
will give our land and river for life!
Kuban, Kuban, Kuban is ours!
You are our glory, you are our honor!
You are our strength, you are our soul,
You are our will, you are our power!
Let our song sound and flow,Let
our song inspire!
We sing our song, we give our song,We
carry our song in our hearts and keep it!
Kuban, Kuban, Kuban is ours!
You are our glory, you are our honor!
You are our strength, you are our soul,
You are our will, you are our power!
Ryabovol Nikolay Stepanovich
Politician and public figure. Cornet. Chairman of the Kuban Legislative Council (1917-1919). He negotiated the annexation of the Kuban to Ukraine. He was the chairman of the Regional Food Committee, which supplied not only the Caucasian Army, but also the population of the areas adjacent to the front, feeding the rest of Russia with bread.
Nikolay Ryabovol was born on December 17, 1883 in the village of Dinskaya, Krasnodar Territory. He grew up in a large family - the eldest of 13 children. He came from the Cossacks. His grandfather was for some time the ataman of the stanitsa, and his father was the stanitsa clerk.
It cost his father a lot of effort to teach his firstborn in the primary classes of the Military Real School. Therefore, Nikolay had to get funds to continue his education in high school and at the Kyiv Polytechnic University on his own. Lack of funds forced Ryabovol to leave the third year of the mechanical department and look for a source of permanent earnings.
In 1909, Nikolai went to the founding congress on the construction of the cooperative Kuban-Black Sea railway, where he immediately joined the organizing committee. He supervised issues related to the approval of the charter of the railway by the authorities, as well as bank financing of the enterprise and the selection of construction and technical personnel.
After the successful completion of all the tasks assigned to him, Ryabovol was nominated for the post of one of the directors of the board.
Since 1915, he served in the military engineering school, after which he received a referral to one of the sapper units with the rank of ensign.
In May 1917, Ryabovol managed to return from Finland to the Kuban, where he immediately took the post of chairman of the Regional Food Committee, which supplied not only the Caucasian Army, but also the population of the areas adjacent to the front, feeding the rest of Russia with bread. In September and November of the same year, he was elected chairman of the Military and Legislative Councils.
Being at the head of the Kuban delegation, he visited Kiev, occupied by the Germans. He had the task of establishing good-neighborly relations with the hetman and thus facilitating the supply of weapons to the Cossacks from the huge Russian stocks collected in the warehouses of Ukraine.
Returning to the Don, Ryabovol went on the Second Kuban campaign. From August 2, 1918, the government of the Kuban was able to resume its work in the city of Yekaterinodar, where Nikolai Stepanovich was elected chairman of the Regional Rada.
At the South Russian Conference, after criticizing the Volunteer Army, at 2 a.m. on June 27, 1919, while returning to the Palace Hotel Ryabovol, Nikolai Stepanovich was killed by two shots from a revolver. The murder took place under the roof of the hotel. Bullets hit the back of the neck and head, the death of the politician came instantly.
The crime was committed on land controlled by the authorities of the Don Republic. Numerous pieces of evidence pointed to the participation in the murder of some officers of the Volunteer Army from OSVAG, for which there was circumstantial evidence and direct witnesses, but despite this, the perpetrators were not identified.
